This striking Spanish-style building is an eye-catcher for anyone traveling I-435 on the east side of the city. A. L. Huber built this new broadcast studio/ office facility for KMBC, Channel 9. This is the first High Definition studio in the midwest, and the technology involved is "right off the design boards". The exterior of the building features pre-fabricated EIFS panels, porcelain tile accents, and a red clay tile roof. The actual broadcast studio is 5,000 square feet and the entire first floor is furnished with raised access flooring under which run thirty miles of computer and video cables. The second floor features a gallery which overlooks the studio and newsroom, finished office spaces, and a conference room.
