Lafarge Sugar Creek Alternate Solid Fuel Facility

A. L. Huber’s strong commitment both to the environment and to the use of sustainable resources secured us the opportunity to help Lafarge North America open a new state-of-the-art “Alternate Solid Fuel Facility” in Sugar Creek, MO. This facility enables Lafarge to reduce it coal usage by 50,000 tons annually, the equivalent of removing 6,629 passenger cars from the roads or providing electrical power to 3,931 households each year. Lafarge, the largest supplier of cement products in the United States and Canada, called upon A. L. Huber to construct a 23,000 sq. ft. building to house this new facility which processes industrial byproduct materials into fuel needed for production operations at the plant, thus meeting 40% of the plant's total energy needs and annually diverting 50,000 tons of locally generated industrial byproduct materials from landfills.
A. L. Huber was excited to participate in a project that is on the cutting edge of green technology and we look forward to working with all of our customers in helping them reduce their carbon footprint. A. L. Huber collaborated with Lafarge’s international design team, based in Montreal, Canada, to bring this demanding project to completion.
