Hoeger House is a unique project, the first of its kind in the State of Kansas – maybe the first in the United States – a seventeen-unit, short-term post-surgery rehabilitation facility; a skilled nursing facility with a residential ambience.
A. L. Huber worked with the Good Samaritan Society, Olathe Medical Center, and HMN Architects throughout the pre-construction phase of the project. Finding the optimum solution for providing short term rehabilitation was the project team’s goal. Several iterations of the design, budget, staffing, and operational plan resulted in the “Hoeger House.”
Because this is a licensed skilled nursing facility, details had to be confirmed and certified throughout the construction process in order to comply with state fire, safety, and health requirements. A. L. Huber assisted in making all modifications needed, and helped to obtain the certifications required.
As a fitting tribute, the project was named after the founder of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, August “Dad” Hoeger.
Hoeger House is part of the continuum of care for the Good Samaritan Communities of Olathe which also includes Olathe Good Samaritan Center for skilled nursing, Cedar Lake Village for assisted and independent living, and Olathe Good Samaritan Towers and College Way Village for low-income HUD housing for seniors and disabled. A. L. Huber has constructed or renovated each of the facilities in the Good Samaritan Communities of Olathe.
