Following the devastating fire that ravaged Westport Presbyterian Church on December 29, 2011, A.L. Huber embarked on a comprehensive restoration and reconstruction project. This was not just a project for us, but a shared endeavor with the community, as the church has long been an integral part of the neighborhood’s fabric. Despite the destruction, remnants of the original wood structure, stone walls, and stained glass endured, albeit needing extensive restoration. Dating back to 1835, the stone church holds a special place in the hearts of the community, making its restoration a priority for the congregation and the community.
Central to the restoration efforts was installing a state-of-the-art audio-visual system in the sanctuary, designed to deliver an immersive sound experience for visitors during services and events. Collaborating closely with specialty contractors, including those tasked with delivering and installing a new organ and restoring the original stained glass, A.L. Huber ensured that every detail was executed with precision and care. Skilled stone masons were enlisted to meticulously restore Westport Presbyterian Church’s stone façade and integrate salvaged stone into the new construction, preserving the building’s historic character while enhancing its structural integrity.
