An impressive adaptive reuse of the former Crispus Attucks School, Zhou B Art Center will serve the Kansas City art community for decades to come. The renovation includes gallery spaces, capacity for 50 individual artist’s studios, restoration of the historic auditorium and event spaces, as well as a digital ticketed experience. A 6,500 sq. ft, 3-story entry addition with event space and sculpture gardens are also part of the project. Extensive historic renovations, including masonry restoration, plaster repairs, millwork infill and reproduction historic windows are integral to the project given the historic nature of the 18th & Vine Jazz District.
